Rich notes of dark cocoa and dried fruits are complemented by subtle citrus acidity, creating a cup of remarkable balance and depth. Smooth and beautifully structured, it unfolds across the palate before giving way to a long, elegant finish that lingers well beyond the final sip.

What immediately stood out was the elegance of the coffee. The sweetness, structure and naturally low caffeine content made it the perfect coffee to conclude a meal. As a Brazilian, it’s wonderful to be able to offer such a rare lot that is so rich in history to all our guests.

After securing this rare nano lot from the Daterra Masterpieces Auction, Rafael Cagali joined us at the roastery to evaluate and refine the roast profile, helping shape the coffee's final expression. The result is a coffee that combines the rarity of an auction lot with the palate of one of the world's most celebrated chefs.

THE PERFECT AFTER-DINNER COFFEE

At the heart of this release is Laurina, one of the world's rarest coffee varieties and a cultivar seldom encountered outside the most exclusive coffee collections. Renowned for its exceptional sweetness, elegance and refined character, Laurina possesses a unique natural trait: it contains approximately one quarter of the caffeine found in a typical Arabica coffee. This rare combination of flavour and restraint makes it particularly suited to the final course of a meal, allowing its remarkable complexity to be enjoyed long into the evening. For Rafael Cagali, it was the perfect choice for a Restaurant Edition intended to bring a memorable dining experience to a close.

SECURED AT AUCTION

Each year, Daterra reserves only a handful of coffees for its prestigious Masterpieces Auction, showcasing the finest lots produced by the estate. The Da Terra Restaurant Edition originates from Lots 1 and 2 — the smallest combined offering in the entire auction. Despite their tiny volume, these lots achieved the highest score in the competition and ultimately attracted the highest winning bid of the auction. Against competition from buyers around the world, we secured both lots, creating a release yielding just 300 boxes worldwide.
