ITALIAN PRESS:

Italy's Press on the 50 Euro Cup in Aosta

From ANSA to Fanpage, the Italian press covers the Esmeralda Geisha served at Paolo Griffa's Caffè Nazionale, supplied by Difference Coffee.

When Paolo Griffa's Caffè Nazionale in Aosta announced a one day tasting of a washed Esmeralda Geisha supplied by Difference Coffee, the Italian press called it the best coffee in the world arriving in Italy, and covered it from the ANSA wire to Fanpage, Quotidiano Nazionale and the Valle d'Aosta papers.

The coffee, served on Saturday 29 November 2025 at 50 euro a cup, came from Hacienda La Esmeralda in Boquete, from the same plot as the lot that won the 2025 Best of Panama with a record 98.00 points and sold at auction for around $30,000 a kilo. Each espresso was extracted by Daniele Carvalho Ricci, three time Italian barista champion, with tasting notes of jasmine, bergamot, tropical fruit, peach and honey. Quotidiano Nazionale records the longer relationship behind the event: Griffa's café, Gambero Rosso's Bar of the Year, has served Difference Coffee since it opened in 2022, with the Jamaica Blue Mountain, Hawaii Kona and Wild Kopi Luwak alongside the Daterra Yellow Bourbon on its regular menu. The story travelled beyond Italy too, picked up by Romania's Antena 3.
