The Mail on Sunday on Britain's Artisan Coffee Boom
The Mail on Sunday on Britain's artisan coffee boom, and the £45 cup at The Wellesley made by Difference Coffee.
The Mail on Sunday reported on Britain's artisan coffee boom in October 2017, in a piece by Louise Eccles charting how coffee lovers had moved beyond the chains, with 22,000 coffee shops in the UK, more than double the number of a decade earlier, and five star hotels charging accordingly.
Difference Coffee appears as the maker of the rarest cup in the story: the Wild Kopi Luwak served at The Wellesley in Knightsbridge at £45 a cup, described as one of the rarest coffees in the world. The article notes that Difference Coffee sells some of the most expensive varieties in the world to Michelin starred restaurants and private clubs, and that its Kopi Luwak beans are sourced only from wild civets, "in the way nature intended it".
