Foodclubbers on the Best Coffee in the World, in Capsules

Raffaele Giordano interviews Amir Gehl for Foodclubbers on the history and curiosity behind Difference Coffee.

Foodclubbers, the Italian food platform, interviewed founder Amir Gehl in a piece by Raffaele Giordano titled "Difference Coffee, the best coffee in the world in capsules", promising readers they would be charmed by the passion and curiosity that drive him to offer an ever better product.

The interview tells the origin story in Amir's own words: a family company of German origin dealing in tobacco for five or six generations, a wife who asked for a Nespresso machine, and a trip to Harrods for Hawaiian Kona at around £250 a kilo, which he poured into an empty capsule and found much better than a Nespresso. From there the questions kept coming: how do you know who produces the best Jamaican Blue Mountain? The answer became Difference Coffee, built on the Specialty Coffee Association's 100 point evaluation system and the unprecedented scrutiny of competitions like Cup of Excellence, where 9,020 cups are analysed to find a top ten.
