Buon Natale! Our Christmas Coffee Panettone is back and it is available for pre-order until Friday, 29th October. We are so excited to offer our customers this rare treat again – a coffee panettone created in collaboration with the legendary Italian pastry chef Valter Tagliazucchi. This artisanal panettone features our Panama Geisha coffee from Hacienda La Esmeralda, which lends a unique and beautiful flavour to the traditional Italian sweet bread.
Valter Tagliazucchi is the proprietor of Pasticceria del Giamberlano, a celebrated bakery in the hills of Modena, Italy. The chef won “Best Traditional Panettone” in 2016 and “Best Innovative Panettone” in 2018 at the Tenzone Del Panettone, an annual celebration of Italy’s beloved panettone. His award-winning approach embraces traditional techniques – his yeasted dough takes days to prepare – along with meticulously sourced ingredients, chief among them a 90-year-old starter.
When we approached Chef Tagliazucchi last year about creating a Difference Coffee Panettone, he told us he had spent years searching for a coffee good enough to put in his panettone, all without success. After trying our Panama Geisha from Hacienda La Esmeralda, the chef declared, "Finally after all these years I have found a coffee good enough for my panettone – Geisha from Difference Coffee.” The Geisha’s unusual floral, fruity notes and hints of bergamot are a perfect complement to richness of the traditional Panettone. As Chef Tagliazucchi said, this panettone is “Good for the palate... and for the eyes, spirit and soul.
